Greater Baltimore Committee

The Greater Baltimore Committee, an organization of business, professional and civic leaders, works to improve the business climate and quality of life in the greater Baltimore region. In 2005, the GBC is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
A credible and effective advocate for business with legislators and government officials, the GBC also offers member services and networking opportunities for members of all sizes.
One of the GBC’s primary focuses is to build support and resources to nurture the growth of the Baltimore region’s life sciences industry. The GBC’s work includes operational funding support for East Baltimore Development Inc., which is managing the development of the East Baltimore Life Sciences and Technology Park north of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. The GBC also partners with the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the University of Maryland Baltimore County to support the development of research parks on their campuses.
Meanwhile, the GBC is coordinating teamwork among life sciences advocates to develop a strong network of existing bioscience companies in the region, to implement a strategy for an expanding bioscience sector, to craft public policies that will cultivate the industry’s growth, and to communicate the region’s bioscience strengths to its business community and to entrepreneurs and industry professionals nationwide.
